Roosevelt Lake Arizona

Theodore Roosevelt Lake is a large reservoir formed by Theodore Roosevelt Dam on the Salt River in Arizona as part of the Salt River Project.

Once the largest man-made lake in the world, Roosevelt Lake is still the biggest of the six SRP lakes and offers the most recreation opportunities. When full, the lake covers more than 17,000 acres near the confluence of Tonto Creek and the Salt River. Game fish in Roosevelt include largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish and crappie. The Lake contains a wildlife area and as a wildlife refuge, is posted to permit hunting at certain times of the year.

The last few years had seen a dramatic reduction in the water level, largely due to the need to maintain supply to the other lakes on the Salt River downstream - in some places the shoreline was half a mile distant from the previous high point. Still, in such conditions many good beaches are exposed which provide excellent camping opportunities, close to the water, although in some places soft mud makes vehicular travel difficult. One good location is Bachelor Cove, along AZ 188 a little north of Theodore Roosevelt Dam.

Canyon Lake Of Arizona - Land Big Fish

Nestled in the heart of the Superstition Mountains, 51 miles east of Phoenix, lie spectacular Canyon Lake, a rare gem in the desert which grows Gods natural skyscrapers.

Canyon Lake is one of the man-made lakes on the Salt River (Rio Salado) in the Superstition Mountains of central Arizona. A very popular boating area, it is formed behind Mormon Flat Dam.
Rocks visible across the lake were formed by a series of violent volcanic eruptions, which have left their record in the form of three ancient calderas. Little surface trace of these giant craters is left, but the outlines of them can be reconstructed by geological evidence. If one of these were active today, it would be referred to as a "supervolcano". These calderas last erupted approximately 15 million years ago, during what is called the Tertiary period.

Statuesque Bighorn sheep ... Eagles hovering above ...awwww ... Baby ducks ... Serene Fishing ... Camping nearby ... Finally, pontoon (or speed boats) boating amongst nature's immaculate cliffs; a piece of Americanas Grand Canyon right here east of the valley!
