Spruce Burl Olympic National Park Beach 1, WA

Where to enjoy ultimate Coastal Forests and beaches? Along the wild coastline of Olympic National Park on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State!
To see what burled trees along the Olympic shoreline look like look for the odd spruce burls in the mysterious spruce burl forests at the Beach 1 trail near Kalaloch. They rival the redwood burls seen in California's dense redwood forests.
No one is sure what causes these strange bulge-like burls in the area's Sitka spruce population - perhaps some kind of rare virus or just a reaction to the constant barrage of salty sea spray.
The trees along Beach One dont seem to mind: Many of them are hundreds of years old and reach up 125 feet into the coastal canopy.
