Shanghai - Monument to the People's Heroes

The 17,000 pieces of marble and granite used to build the Monument to the People's Heroes in Shanghai's Huangpu Park, China, weigh over 10,000 metric tons.
Being of such high quality the Chinese monument is projected to last 800 to 1,000 years.
The 24-meter-high monument on a round-shaped island submerged in Huangpu river's water honors those who helped to free China from foreign occupation.
