Exhibition shows Holyrood at work

A photographic exhibition has opened at Holyrood showing a variety of visits and engagements which have taken place since the start of devolution in 1999.
The display, in the Garden Lobby, features 24 pictures taken by the Scottish Parliament's photography team.
The Presiding Officer, George Reid, said that a picture says a thousand words and the exhibition captured a working parliament in action.
The snaps can also be seen in virtual form via the parliament's website.

Mr Reid said: "From the first meeting of the parliament on the Mound to our new surroundings at Holyrood, it highlights the work of MSPs and some fascinating visitors from around the world."
The pictures include a shot of the swearing in of Winnie Ewing MSP in 1999 who was the oldest member of the new devolved parliament.
Also marked are the 2001 and 2005 visits by South African President Thabo Mbeki, the first head of state to address members, and the President of Malawi, His Excellency, Dr Bingu wa Mutharika.
As well as visitors, the exhibition includes pictures of committee visits outside Edinburgh; the launch of the parliament's e-petition system and the procession down the Royal Mile to mark the official opening of the new parliament building in October 2004.
