Each of the two waterways has its own special characteristics. Unlike some of the other water towns near Shanghai, these riverfronts tend to have a more relaxed feeling as they aren’t as touristy as the others.
Qibao is more than just a living fossil of ancient Chinese conurbation and urban planning. The old town with its narrow alleyways, arched bridges, and canals is one of the most important historical sites in Shanghai.
