Roof Corner - Expo China Pavilion Shanghai

The China Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010 was designed in the shape of an oriental crown. Its main structure includes a six layer, 30 meter high roof made of 56 traditional wooden brackets. the brackets symbolize the nation's 56 minority ethnic groups.
The top of the roof features a Sudoku grid, which was a traditional urban planning feature in ancient Chinese cities. A smaller Sudoku shadow appears in the semi-open square on the ground floor of the structure when the sun shines into the pavilion.
The Chinese Pavilion is expressing the good imagine of China. However, the real Chinese Culture and life can hardly be found in big cities; one needs to travel deeper into small villages, the rural parts of China. That's still a different story!
